Guy tries to aid in the fight as much as he can, but after a while he becomes too worn out and Lee has to assist him in getting to his feet. After Obito is defeated, they begin to move slowly in the direction of the location where the remainder of the Alliance is now engaged in a conflict. They see as they go that the Fifth Kazekage is leading Sakura Haruno and Naruto in the opposite direction, towards the direction of Kakashi, who is holding Obito. Guy orders Lee to return over Tenten’s protestations since he feels something is off. They return in time for Guy to save Kakashi from a Truth-Seeking Ball launched by Madara Uchiha, a character Guy is unfamiliar with. Guy is shocked to realize that it’s Madara’s, whose look has changed as a result of his new role as the jinchriki of the Ten-Tails.
Madara is no longer vulnerable to any assaults other than senjutsu and taijutsu, according to Kakashi and the others. Though technically capable of using senjutsu, the Fourth Hokage who had been reborn is unable to do so at the moment. The seventh gate is then opened by Guy when he determines it is his duty to combat Madara. Lee must defend Guy from one of Madara’s Truth-Seeking Balls when Guy, who has been weakened by the attack, uses Daytime Tiger to attack. Madara lives. Kakashi determines they have no chance against Madara because Guy’s assault was unsuccessful. Guy corrects him and states that he still possesses the Eight Gates Released Formation. Although Kakashi and the Fourth try to persuade him otherwise, Lee sympathetically accepts Guy’s justifications. Guy considers his father as he punctures his heart to open the eighth gate and considers how valuable his friends are to him that he would lose his life to protect them.
Guy uses Evening Elephant to assault Madara, but the anguish he feels makes him halt after just one stride. Guy restarts, progressively giving Madara the first four stages of the Evening Elephant, and when Madara returns, anxious to see what Guy is capable of, Guy is ready to wow. Knowing that Guy has a limited amount of time, Kakashi and the others work together to take out some of the Truth-Seeking Balls that Madara is employing to protect himself. Guy can now use the sixth phase of the Evening Elephant to directly strike Madara. Madara makes it out alive, and despite being exhausted, he challenges Guy to another attack. Additional Evening Elephant attacks from Guy increasingly weaken Madara, but when his life is about to run out, Guy realizes he must employ Night Guy to put an end to the conflict. He charges Madara and kicks him in the side, breaking Guy’s right leg’s bones and destroying a portion of Madara’s body.
Guy passes out after using all Eight Gates; his wounded leg begins to break into ashes as his body begins to fry from the inside. After recovering from the damage, Madara fires a Truth-Seeking Ball at Guy to end his suffering as a thank you for being such a fantastic opponent. In order to stabilize Guy’s life energy, Naruto utilizes his new Yin-Yang Release after fending off the Truth-Seeking Ball. After fighting Madara, Naruto brings Guy to Lee and gives him care instructions while promising Lee that Guy will survive.
