MEGUMI
Megumi Fushiguro, a pivotal character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, holds the role of deuteragonist, providing a unique perspective alongside protagonists Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki. As a grade 2 jujutsu sorcerer and first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Megumi navigates the intricate world of curses and sorcery, bringing a fresh and dynamic dimension to the storyline.
Born into the esteemed Zenin Family as Toji Fushiguro’s son and the step-brother of Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi carries the weight of his lineage. His distinct features include fair skin and captivating green eyes (dark blue in the anime adaptation), complemented by uniquely styled black hair resembling a sea-urchin, a characteristic noted by Hakari.
Megumi’s wardrobe showcases his discerning taste, often donning the standard Jujutsu High uniform with a dark blue jacket over a crisp long-sleeved white dress shirt. The ensemble is completed with uniform pants matching the jacket, stopping just above his shins. His fashion sense extends to long black socks covering exposed ankles, finalized with stylish low-top brown shoes. For training, Megumi opts for a blue tracksuit, combining functionality with a touch of his personal style.
During his middle school years, Megumi sported the Saitama Urami East Junior High uniform—a tan jacket paired with a white dress shirt, black pants, and white sneakers. His adaptability is evident in instances like infiltrating the Gachinko Fight Club, where he adopted a black hoodie and matching pants with his regular shoes for effective disguise.
Megumi’s character development is a journey from a stern, earnest child to a thoughtful young man. Early interactions with Satoru Gojo revealed his maturity, with Satoru even questioning if Megumi was truly a first-grader due to his composure. Despite the complex situation with the Zenin clan, Megumi displayed a remarkable ability to prioritize Tsumiki’s happiness, showcasing his compassionate nature.
Throughout his growth, Megumi’s relationship with Satoru remained a source of annoyance, stemming from Satoru’s unconventional approach. Megumi initially resisted the idea of becoming a sorcerer, growing more cynical over time. By middle school, he had fully embraced an impersonal attitude, questioning the purpose of becoming a jujutsu sorcerer and expressing a reluctance to see himself as a savior of others.
Megumi’s internal struggle between his uninterested stance towards making friends and his commitment to upholding human dignity adds depth to his character. His reputation as the school’s biggest troublemaker, standing against bullies who violated this fundamental rule of human interaction, showcases his unwavering principles.
As Megumi’s journey unfolds in Jujutsu Kaisen, his multifaceted character continues to captivate audiences, making him a compelling focal point in discussions on character dynamics and growth in anime narratives.
