Madara Uchiha
was the renowned Uchiha clan chief. With his boyhood friend and opponent, Hashirama Senju, he formed Konohagakure with the goal of ushering in a peaceful period. When the two couldn’t agree on how to make peace, they battled for control of the village, which resulted in Madara’s death. Madara, on the other hand, rewrote his own demise and went into seclusion to carry out his own schemes. He handed his knowledge and ideas to Obito just before his death, as he was unable to finish it in his normal life. Years later, Madara would be resurrected, only to have his schemes blocked and, eventually, to see his wrong and make peace with Hashirama before his final death.
After Izuna’s death, Madara grew resentful of the Senju, especially Hashirama, who still had a brother. He chose to die for retribution rather than compromise or forgive, embracing his clan’s Curse of Hatred. The increasing isolation of himself and other Uchiha from village politics eventually convinced him of this, and he broke free of all other ties.
Madara acted in the best interests of the community during his tenure as a Konoha shinobi. Unlike Hashirama, Madara was ruthless: the Iwagakure shinobi were only useful if they vowed unconditional devotion to Konoha. Madara despised seeing Hashirama’s name mentioned during diplomatic negotiations since their techniques were so unlike. Madara’s priorities shifted once he defected from Konoha, with him influencing numerous individuals to achieve his own aims and putting in place many levels of contingencies to ensure that no one could ever deviate from his plans. Regardless, Madara honestly felt that her plan would improve the globe and merely followed the “ends justify the means” concept.
