The Gomu Gomu no Mi, previously known as the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, grants the user immense strength and flexibility due to their rubber-like body. This allows them to fight in any way they desire, earning them the title of “Warrior of Liberation” as they bring joy and freedom to those around them. The fruit’s power is often described as the most absurd ability in existence. When using this power, Luffy’s heartbeat takes on a musical rhythm known as the “Drums of Liberation,” and his appearance changes with his hair and clothes turning white, except for his signature straw hat, belt, and sandals. Additionally, his eyes glow with red ring-like pupils, and white clouds float around his neck. Gear 5 also transforms Luffy’s outfit to his usual pants and sandals. As an awakened Zoan, Luffy gains immense strength, speed, and durability, surpassing those with unawakened Zoan powers. He was even able to defeat the powerful Emperor Kaidou and match Rob Lucci’s awakened Zoan form without much effort. Luffy’s durability is also noteworthy as he can recover quickly even when unconscious. In Gear 5, Luffy can perform incredible physical feats such as running through midair while igniting fire in his wake and turning into a burrowing drill with immense force.
