However, over time, Itachi grew distant and cold toward the family, leading to conflicts within the Uchiha clan due to suspicions of his involvement in Shisui Uchiha’s death. Shocked, Sasuke demanded an explanation from Itachi, who revealed he did it to test his own strength. Fearful for his life, Sasuke attempted to flee, only to be confronted by Itachi. Itachi explained that Sasuke wasn’t worth killing in his current state and could only become a challenge by gaining his own Mangekyō Sharingan. Itachi encouraged Sasuke to despise him, seek revenge, and derive power from those feelings. Acting on this, Sasuke awakened his Sharingan and attacked Itachi, but he failed and lost consciousness, catching a brief glimpse of Itachi in tears before blacking out. This memory remained suppressed for many years.
