Rengoku vs Akaza 9th Form
Kyojuro tells himself to light his heart on fire and burn beyond his restrictions. With that, he proudly declares his status as the Flame Hashira as he prepares the Flame Breathing, Esoteric Art: Ninth Form, Rengoku, his family’s most powerful Breathing technique. Akaza also prepares his Destructive Death: Annihilation Type, and the dust disperses this time, revealing that Akaza has pierced Kyojuro’s solar plexus with his arm. Akaza shouts that he’s going to die and begs Kyojuro to tell the Upper Rank that he’ll become a Demon and that he’s one of the powerful chosen ones once more.
This reminds Kyojuro of his mother, Ruka Rengoku, and a flashback depicts one of their final moments together. Ruka urges a younger Kyojuro to consider what she’s about to ask him before asking whether he knows why he was born stronger than others. Kyojuro mulls over the situation for a moment before declaring that he has no idea. Ruka says that he was given such power to defend the vulnerable, and that power should be utilized for the betterment of the world and the people, not for the purpose of harming others. She claims that people born powerful have a responsibility to defend the vulnerable.
